Q. Where do I start?
A. As a newbie Atreides, it's important to start improving your shieldbelt as soon as possible, as it gets more expensive as you get bigger in level. It's highly recommended to apply for a guild loan at the guild bank (up from the main guild hall) so you can foot some of these expenses. Solaris (and experience) are pretty important early on, since your gskills rely on the two. Many starting Atreides will focus on maxing their gskills after their belt. The order that they max them in may vary, but the most common order is Powerwords, Fury, Weirding Way, Battlelore and lastly Counterstrike and Prescience.
Q. How does my shieldbelt work?
A. Your shieldbelt is an extremely useful piece of equipment. It gives you excellent armor coverage as is, but also has a function that allows you to set the level of protection you receive. For the best protection, newbies should use 'bset 10', 10 being the max setting (for newbies). Beware, however, because your shieldbelt has a finite power supply. You can recharge your shieldbelt at the guild (d, s, e from guild hall), or, upon killing a mob, use the 'babsorb' command to absorb the mob's corpse into your shieldbelt for power.
Q. What stats are important?
A. The most important stats for Atriedes to train are STR, INT and WIS. Most of you gskills rely on these stats for effectiveness, as well as the overall amount of guild experience you will receive while in combat.
Q. What are prestiege points?
A. Prestiege points are used to raise your gskills over the maximum of 100. The amount of prestiege points used is dictated by the difficulty of training, according to 'gskills'.
Q. How often will I get honor points?
A. You will recieve an honor point for every 15 glvls you achieve. Therefore, you will recieve one at glvl 15, one at glvl 30, and so on. Honor points are extremely beneficial to your guild performance, aka gexp rate.
Q. What are some good specializations?
A. The most common gskills to specialize are typically Wierding Way, Battlelore, Fury or Counterstrike. Adding extra trains to these gskills is always a great idea.
Q. What's with all the subguilds?
A. Atreides has 3 different subguilds, each with their own unique flavor. It's up to you to join and find out which one you like best, and the guild allows you to change your subguild once every week. Each subguild has their own special gskills, and two of them have unique weapons that you can get from Thufir Hawat. Join one today!
Good luck, and welcome to the Atreides Guild!
